”Last year was our second year doing homeschool. I was looking for a more complete curriculum. Something that was full of knowledge and held my child's attention. We found switched on school house. Immediately after we received it in the mail, I opened it and downloaded everything. I was impressed by how much curriculum there was. Each subject was packed full. That it is important to me because I am not a teacher that can come up with what we are going to learn. I can assist my child. I can give her other ways to think about things. I can help in many ways, but I am not the teacher. I needed a program that was the teacher. That set up the subjects and put it all together. SOS did all that. I am very pleased with this program. It does 95% of the grading. The things that I need to grade, the answers are given to me. I really like that we do not need to have internet to do SOS. We travel for my husbands job so we don't always have wifi for the computer. We don't need it to do SOS. We do have data on our phones if she needs to look stuff up. We already have started her second year of SOS. We do school year round. We are impressed and loving it already. Thank you SOS for creating a curriculum that is packed full of information and does not cost an arm and a leg. I will continue to use this product.”
”I absolutely LOVE the Alpha-Omega (Switched On Schoolhouse) curriculum!! It works for me and my son loves it as well. He is 13 and in the 8th grade. There is less on my part to do. I review it everyday but the computer based program does most of the work for me in terms of keeping him on track, grading, and making it fun and interactive for him. My son is a kinesthetic learner so this is perfect for him! It saved me a lot of stress from a previous curriculum. I will definitely continue to use it and I told EVERYONE about it!!”
”Love SOS. I have to work as well as homeschool and could not do it (not a well) without SOS. I have to replace some of the LA and all of the spelling with specific lessons due to my student having severe dyslexia and reading problems. Thank you for making it Alpha & Omega and thank you Homeschool Buyers Co-op for having it available with discounts”
”We recently ordered the Switched-On Schoolhouse Science 3 and History & Geography 3. I was pleased that it was a much easier setup and installation process than I had expected (especially over two computers, one without a CD-ROM drive). I felt like the layout of the program was kind of "old school", but it is pretty simple to figure out and gets the job done. Setting up scheduling, assignments, and grading has been an enjoyable process for me, and my daughter quickly learned how to navigate the program for her own use. I am excited to see how the rest of the year works out, and if all goes well, I plan to continue using SOS for at least these two subjects in the future.”
”We have been using SOS for three years now. It is a great program. Easy to use for the children and great for the parent as it grades automatically, keeps reports. It is a great product as I can use it for up to five children for one complete subject. So purchasing multiple times is not necessary. Children really like to program and we will continue to use it for many years.”
”We have been using AOP SOS for four years now. We like it so well because it is computerized. One of our daughters is very technically oriented. Another of our daughters has cerebral palsy, which makes holding books and handwriting very difficult for her. SOS meets the needs for both of our girls. I like it because of the automatic grading of 90% of the material. I work part time, and our girls do their SOS work while I'm away from home. This encourages them to take personal responsibility for their education. Then when I come home from work, I answer any questions they have and do that last little bit of grading that needs done. We like SOS because it enables me to make sure our daughters are being taught a basic core of information needed. But the textbook style and quick typing that our girls do enable us to spend more time on their delight-directed topics. Now that I have a high schooler, we are switching things up a bit as far as what years certain topics will be covered. Our daughter has elected to pursue CLEP testing, and we purchase the curriculum components based on which CLEPs she wishes to take. We will definitely continue using SOS!”
”I am so happy to have Switched On Schoolhouse. We are completing our third grade curriculum and will be preparing for the fourth grade SOS in another two months. What a relief that I now have this trusted curriculum for my older child so that I can have more time available for the younger ones. I have peace of mind that my older child is being challenged and enjoying the independence of working on her own. It's a great fit for our family.”
|”I was thrilled when a friend recommended and I used Switched-on-Schoolhouse by Alpha-Omega. It makes homeschooling so much easier, by allowing me to set up my school year calendar, and then making assignments from the curriculum for the year. It also conveniently keeps track of the grade averages for each subject, the hours spent on each subject, and provides a way to keep a record of attendance easily. Students can easily see their assignments for the day, and they do their work on the computer.
I will definitely continue using it, and I have also recommended it to other homeschoolers.”
”My daughter (16) really likes SOS Schoolhouse. We used it for ND History and Health last year and are using it for Business Computer this year. We like how self-explanatory it is as well as the self-grading features for me as a busy mom. With 7 kids it's nice to have something you don't have to explain.”
”We were struggling with Integrated Science and Chemistry, after four prior years with ease in science. We switched mid-semester to AOP's Switched on Schoolhouse and oh my. I'm in heaven and so is my son. He loves it, I love it, and the program does everything, I just did the initial set-up and off he went. I just print out weekly updates to see where and how he is progressing. Thank you Alpha-Omega!”
”We really love the SOS curriculum. It is very easy to use and setup takes seconds. Great product with updates and grading all in one place. Children get to set up and make changes to thier own page to personalize as well, kinda fun for them too. You can access other info as well. Alot of possibilities and choices to choose from. Rewarding for them to see their scores right away. I tell all that I come into contact with about SOS and HOMESCHOOL BUYERS CO-OP...Great place, with freebies and discounts. Very helpful for a large family.”
”love this program wish I would've bought it sooner. it saves us so much time on grading papers and the kids know exactly what they have to do and when it's due. It also allows me to reassign lessons so if they rushed through one I can make sure they know it by reassigning it for them. The kids love to be able to print out their grade reports. Definitely worth the price and saves on frustration.”
”I really like the SOS curriculum. My son Loves it. I really like the flexibility and the design over all. It has helped a great deal because I homeschool all five of my children. The younger ones are more hands on. My son is really a self starter and this helps a great deal. I will continue to use this program.”
|”We're starting our 3rd year of using SOS. Our older daughter is very bright, but struggles with dysgraphia. Separating the curriculum from handwriting was enormously freeing for her. We've found that her spelling is improving dramatically, and by using typing, her writing skills overall are improving greatly as well.
Our younger daughter will be beginning SOS this summer. She has been using an online curriculum (Time 4 Learning), but quickly became annoyed with it because it had too many cartoon characters and voices. She'd say, "Mom, why can't they just let me read the material? Why the annoying characters? When can I use SOS?" She has cerebral palsy, so handwriting is also a challenge for her. However, with her adaptive mouse, she's quite adept at the computer. She's excited to begin using SOS, as it is calmer and allows her to repeat material that she needs, without listening to the annoying voices and characters again. Having the ability to change font size and have the computer read material to her will also be very helpful, as her eyes quickly fatigue when she's reading.
As for me, I also work outside the home as an adjunct instructor at a local community college. During the semesters, I work an average of 20-30 hours a week, between online classes and face-to-face classes. SOS makes my life SO much easier!!! The planning is already done for me. The girls don't argue with me, because the lesson plan is right there with due dates. SOS does 95% of the grading for me, and I find the 5% quite easy to handle. Reviewing the daily work gives me the opportunity to spend my time enhancing their learning with more-detailed explanations or trips to the library for extra books.
SOS has been a God-send to us in so many ways. We're thankful to AO for creating a Bible-based curriculum that is academically challenging and accessible to our daughters. I don't foresee us changing anytime soon. SOS meets so many of our needs.”
”We started using Switched-On Schoolhouse for the first time this year and it has been a great experience for us! We had never used a computer curriculum before, and I was a bit nervous, but this has been so easy and user friendly, and my daughter just loves it! She has stayed so consistently enthused about her lessons this year that I find her grabbing her laptop in the evenings and working ahead. I will never use anything else!”
”My son loves Switched-On Schoolhouse, and so do I! The interactive lessons and games keep schoolwork interesting for him, and the automatic grading makes it easy for me. If your children are visual learners or you're feeling like you're being stretched too thin with all the lesson planning and preparation that textbooks require, Switched-On Schoolhouse is your answer.”
”After two years of traditional school, our daughter was ready to homeschool. We started with her two favorite subjects in Switched-On Schoolhouse, science and history, but by her third year, we were only using Switched-On Schoolhouse. Now, we are embarking upon our fourth year, and our daughter looks like she has completely closed all the learning gaps in math and language arts. She enjoys all her subjects and is taking more responsibility for her schedule and workload. This year we're trying one lesson of math and language arts each morning, and then we finish the rest of the day with whatever subject she likes and continue to work in "blocks." SOS's calendar makes this so perfect because I can rework it and keep her on track during the year. You don't have to do every subject every day if your children can't keep the concentration level up. You can focus on one subject and help them learn, so they retain the information during that day. Then, the next day you can tackle another subject. It's not traditional, I know, but it works!”
|”I had already been homeschooling for nine years when a friend told me about Switched-On Schoolhouse. It couldn't have come at a better time. I had become so overwhelmed by the workload required to homeschool three children that I didn't know how I could keep going. The daily grading and weekly lesson-planning amounted to a 20-hour per week job....on top of time spent teaching and the normal schedule of a housewife and mother! I desperately needed a change.
Switching to 'SOS' was the best homeschooling decision I ever made! It has been six years since we made that change, and I will never go back! I will never go back to the hours of lesson-planning or to the tedious grading. I will never go back to wondering if my children are learning enough. I will never again wander vendor booths at homeschool conventions looking for 'the perfect curriculum.' I FOUND IT!
I began using SOS because I thought it would be a great change for me, but it has turned out to be the best thing for my children, too. I've made a lot of mistakes during my fourteen years as a homeschooling mom, but switching to SOS was definitely NOT one of them! I'm hoping that Switched-On Schoolhouse will be around to see me through my next fifteen years of homeschooling!”
”I just wanted to write and thank you for a GREAT curriculum. My daughter has just started the SOS homeschool curriculum and we both love it. It is so easy to use, and I love the flexibility. It does so much of the work I used to do like scheduling, organizing lessons, and grading. My daughter loves the content and the variety of teaching techniques used. She also loves how easy it is for her to see what her lessons are and what her grades are. No more backpacks busting at the seams! Thank you so much. We plan to use SOS all the way through high school. WELL DONE! God bless you all.”
”Switched-On Schoolhouse was everything we needed to be able to continue home educating our children. It was sent from heaven to our doorstep! We have been using SOS with 3 students and I wish so much that we would have known about it earlier for our son who graduated last year. I had concerns about the children using the computer so much, but we have had a wonderful experience and my children love seeing their grades every day--no more waiting for Mom! SOS has helped me enjoy teaching my children again. It has taken the dread out of a new day filled with yet more paperwork and stress. THANK YOU for creating such a wonderful, affordable curriculum!”
”SOS helps me a lot. I have been homeschooled for seven years. My mom pulled me out of public school when I was in the fourth grade. Now successfully, I am in the eleventh grade making As and Bs. I'm also on the honor roll. I love SOS because it teaches you what you need, and it teaches from a Christian perspective. I believe everybody should be homeschooled because there is no school like home.”
