Homeschool Buyers Co-op BBB Business Review

Please read this FAQ page carefully before contacting the Co-op.
Study Island is aligned to 'state' standards. Is the Co-op school license applicable to my state standards?

In order to setup a school license, we must choose one primary state for the Co-op's school license. We have chosen California.

Additionally, we have attained access to content based on national curriculum guidelines (U.S.). We recognize that many homeschoolers do not want state standards focused training. Because of this, we also have access to content aligned to the U.S. (national) in addition to the California aligned content. Therefore, members may concentrate on and benefit from the skills practice and skills mastery content available within the Study Island program.

Which programs have California and which have U.S.?

Kindergarten, 1st Grade, and High School are *BOTH* California and U.S. (national) aligned. Grades 2nd through 8th are aligned to California.

If don't live in California, will Study Island still benefit my student?

We believe that it will. Although, there may be some differences from state-to-state, California aligned standards data is seen repetitively within other states. However, we do not want to make this decision for you, and encourage you to explore more info: California Content.

Is there a way for me to 'see' the content and determine for myself if it is useful for our homeschool?

Yes! We set up some demo login links for members like you, just so you can take it for a spin! We encourage you to do so. Please visit the Co-op's Study Island GroupBuy page and look for the 'DEMO' links here: Study Island GroupBuy page.

Can I change the number of questions asked in my student's assignments?

Settings cannot be changed to remove or add more questions to an assignment.  Study Island asks 10 random questions that are pulled from a pool of roughly 50 questions per topic.

The Study Island subscription is in the name of the Co-op member, not the student. Why is that?

Due to programming issues, the subscription must be in the name of the Co-op member under which the subscription was purchased.

What do I do if my question is not answered on this page?

You can submit your question at the Contact Us page. We will answer your question and update this page as well.
