Program Overview

Start your child off the right way in math with a clearly designed, hands-on program already proven by thousands of homeschoolers across the country.Math K helps you teach the foundational skills that children require, including oral counting; recognizing and sequencing numbers; acting out addition and subtraction stories; counting with one-to-one correspondence; identifying and counting pennies, nickels, and dimes; sorting; telling time to the hour; and using a calendar.

Program Contents

Building directly on Math K, Math 1 establishes a solid understanding of basic math concepts, such as comparing and ordering numbers, mastering all basic addition facts and most basic subtraction facts, adding two-digit numbers without regrouping, naming fractions, and measuring with inches, feet, and centimeters. Your child will also learn to create, read, and write observations from real graphics, pictographs, and bar graphs.

Continuing and reinforcing the lessons in Math 1, Math 2 covers a larger range of critical concepts, such as working with larger numbers, geometric shapes, Venn diagrams, graphs, basic arithmetic calculations, and simple fractions. With Math 2, your child is well on the way to successfully solving multi-step problems and mastering basic concepts.

Math 3 uses simulations and games to help third-grade students understand and practice new concepts. Social studies and science connections are stressed. Your child can learn to: skip-count by whole numbers, compare and order numbers, identify ordinal position to the twentieth, identify and complete patterns, add and subtract multidigit numbers, divide by single-digit divisors, add positive and negative numbers, picture, name, and order fractions, add and subtract fractions with common denominators, understand and calculate measurements, compare and measure mass, identify function rules, graph ordered pairs on a coordinate graph, identify angles, identify lines of symmetry.

Math Intermediate 3 teaches mathematical concepts through informative lessons, helpful diagrams, and interactive activities and investigations. Math Intermediate 3 teaches mathematical concepts through informative lessons, helpful diagrams, and interactive activities and investigations - in-depth examinations of math topics for deeper understanding.

Written by Stephen Hake, the Intermediate series is a comprehensive math curriculum that uses a textbook format. Saxon Math Intermediate 4 is for students at the 4th grade level. The program offers daily cumulative, mixed practice, and frequent assessments to continuously monitor student progress. It also includes investigations for a more in-depth examination of math topics for deeper understanding as well as a variety of problem-solving strategies.

The Saxon Teacher video supplement provides comprehensive lesson instruction as well as solutions to every practice problem, problem set, and test question. The user-friendly CDs are compatible with Windows and Mac formats.

Math 5/4 introduces new concepts your child will need for upper-level algebra and geometry. After every tenth lesson is an investigation - an extensive examination of a specific math topic, discussed at length to ensure solid understanding. Math 5/4 helps students extend their understanding of critical skills and concepts such as number sense, numeration, numerical operations, measurement and geometry, patterns, relationships, math functions, and data manipulation through charts.

We're sorry! At the present time, you have to place a separate order for the lesson plan; you can't buy it in the same order with your curriculum. We are working to fix that.

Math 8/7 introduces new concepts your child will need for upper-level algebra and geometry. After every tenth lesson is an investigation - an extensive examination of a specific math topic, discussed at length to ensure solid understanding.

Algebra 1/2 represents a culmination of prealgebra mathematics, covering all topics normally taught in prealgebra, as well as additional topics from geometry and discrete mathematics (used in engineering and computer sciences).

Students will develop the understanding they need to resolve more complex problems and functions with this step-by-step course. Covers topics including signed numbers, exponents, and roots; absolute value; equations and inequalities; scientific notations; unit conversions; polynomials; graphs; factoring; quadratic equations; direct and inverse variations; exponential growth; statistics; and probability.

This Saxon Algebra 2 Home Study Kit covers all traditional second-year algebra topics, as well as a full semester of informal geometry, are included with both real-world, abstract and interdisciplinary applications. Topics include geometric functions like angles, perimeters, and proportional segments; negative exponents; quadratic equations; metric conversions; logarithms; and advanced factoring.

Students who are interested in taking the Saxon Geometry course may choose the 4th Edition Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 courses, which are designed to accompany Geometry. Featuring the same incremental approach that is the hallmark of the Saxon program, the 4th Edition Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 textbooks feature more algebra and precalculus content and fewer geometry lessons than their 3rd Edition counterparts.

Geometry includes all topics in a high school geometry course, including perspective, space, and dimension associated with practical and axiomatic geometry. Students learn how to apply and calculate measurements of lengths, heights, circumference, areas, and volume.

Prepare your students for future success in calculus, chemistry, physics, and social sciences! The 125 incremental Saxon Advanced Mathematics lessons provide in-depth coverage of trigonometry, logarithms, analytic geometry, and upper-level algebraic concepts. Includes continued practice of intermediate algebraic concepts and trigonometry introduced in Algebra 2 and features new lessons on functions, matrices, statistics, and the graphing calculator.

Understanding the abstractions of Calculus requires far more than limited exposure. Through the 148 sequential lessons in this comprehensive text, future mathematicians, scientists, and engineers will incrementally build and reinforce their knowledge through continual practice and review. Following a condensed summary of key algebra, trigonometry, and analytic geometry topics, students explore limits, functions, and the differentiation and integration of variables.
