Description:Sunnyside, in Tarrytown, NY, was the home of Washington Irving, the beloved author of Rip Van Winkle and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Hailed in his day as the father of American literature, Washington Irving was one of the most celebrated figures of the mid 19th century. Today Sunnyside is part of the Historic Hudson Valley network of historic sites, a not-for-profit educational organization in the Hudson Valley region. Visit the home Irving created in 1835 for himself and his family and journey into the past with us on our series of Homeschool Days.
