Facility:Tubman African American Museum
Description:The Mission of the Tubman Museum is to educate people about African American art, history & culture.
Exhibitions in the changing gallery space of the Tubman Museum have focused on subjects as diverse as contemporary African American art, soul food, black films, and African American photography. Other galleries in the museum explore local history, African American achievement, and black inventors and inventions. As these exhibitions suggest, the museum's collections are equally wide-ranging and include the Noel Collection of African Art (with 2,000-year-old Nok figures, beaded Yoruba wall panels, and Benin bronzes), folk art, contemporary African American art, photography, and sculpture, and historical photos and artifacts.

This is an outstanding museum! I was so excited to be able to visit it once I moved from TX to GA. A few years ago, Oprah visited the museum and had nothing but praise for it.

The exhibits are tastefully displayed with lots of information printed for you to read. They showcase the great inventions black people have contributed to our world as well as local black history, African American artists from GA, and much more. I think you will be surprised at how many inventions are showcased or discussed. The art work is beautiful and they have a huge mural at the front of the museum. It is quite impressive.

There is a small gift shop in the facility. They are working on building a larger facility as the money comes in.

Just to note, I am not of African American dissent, however, this is a very worthwhile museum to visit for people of any color. You will thoroughly enjoy it.
