Facility:Tri Region Science and Engineering Fair
Description:The Tri Region Science and Engineering Fair (TRSEF) is delighted to invite students and their families to the Family Science Adventure, a FREE science and engineering workshop! Through hands-on mini-projects, students grades 5-12 can learn about science fairs, and the doors they open to mentors, career exploration, awards and scholarships. While there are still a good number of openings at each site, email or phone quickly before these Adventures fill up. In previous workshops, they had to close registration and had no cancellations open up for the waiting list people.

January 10: Syracuse at the MOST (80)
January 17: Alfred at Alfred University (70)
January 18: Corning at Corning Community College (TBD)
January 24: Jamestown at Jamestown Community College (80)

Each workshop runs from 1:00-4:00 p.m.; you will want to arrive by 12:45 to sign in.
Note: A conference call can be arranged for homeschooling cooperatives.

High school students or parents can volunteer for event prep and pack-up, and participant registration. In turn, they would be able to partner with one of the adult mentors on a mini-project. They would leave understanding the entire science fair process, well prepared to undertake their own project for March.

The TRSEF serves 27 counties across Upstate New York, a regional science fair offering awards and advancement to national and international competition. Every student grades 5-12 is eligible for the TRSEF, either through advancement by the local science fair, or by direct registration with our regional if no local fair is available. Students can come to the TRSEF on March 29th with a Poster Presentation (basically a poster about a science or technology topic) or for Research Judging (an actual experiment is planned, completed and reported on).
