|Facility:||The American Wind Power Center|
|Description:||The American Wind Power Center is the most comprehensive collection of historic windmills in the world. It will be a site long remembered and is a way of honoring those early settlers who struggled with difficult conditions tempered with the life-giving water pumped by windmills. The windmill gave railroads access to underground water, permitted ranchers to fence and selectively breed cattle and farmers to live on land where there were no rivers, streams, or lakes. This history can now be told in a permanent facility dedicated to the preservation of the American-style windmill.
Guided tours are available by appointment for groups of 5 or more. Please contact the museum office at 806-747-8734 to schedule a tour.
