This Aquarium was my kids favorite. They say give it a 10! The location on the lake is beautiful. Plan on all day. The collection of aquatic life is expansive. There are many shows and sessions. We got to see a diver in one of the tanks and the audience got to ask them questions while in the tank.

Fun aquarium with sharks, sting rays... They were just getting in some seahorses when we were there. Had some hands on activities. The price was quite steep, thankfully we had some free passes or we would not have gone.

Aquatic creatures galore! The Shedd is filled with animals to view and learn about, and there are often a variety of activities going on too. Watch feeding time in the reef or the show in the auditorium, look at all the sea creatures. The price is a little high, but if you live close enough that you might come more than once a year, purchase the annual membership. It cost just $5 more for our family of 6 to purchase the membership than it would have to visit once, and we stopped in again our next time through Chicago. Free days tend to be very, very hectic, so plan accordingly. Also, cafeteria prices are steep. We prefer to bring a sack lunch and eat outside if the weather is nice.

This Aquarium is wonderful and the location is beautiful. This is a better trip than going to a normal zoo. The aquarium is a great opportunity to experience sea life and to visual how marine animals live and survive. There are a lot of activities, and, it is easy to spend a whole day here. Very eductional.

We homeschool year around and planned our yearly trip to Chicago for this summer. I've been to the Shedd several times growing up and I remember it as past reviewers commented- nothing but fantastic. However, Summer may not be the time to visit the Shedd. The Shedd was extremely crowded (familys with multiple children and only one adult attending might shriek in horror), many exhibits were unavailable and it was very dirty.

If you do attend the Shedd... some tips:
1- Get a ChicagoCard or Purchase tix in advance
2- Leave the stroller at home (if possible)
3- Pack a lunch and eat outside with a beautiful view of the skyline
4- Take an extra set of hands

Always a wonderful day at the Shedd. The hands on activities for little kids are not to be missed. The new exhibits with the touchscreen panels are wonderful. My kids have learned so much at the Shedd.

Great fieldtrip classes for homeschool groups as well

A very nice place where you can see alot. But one warning! On free days it is sometimes so crowded you can't see anything. If you are learning about ocean animals this is the place to go.
