If you attend Sea World on homeschool day you only have access to the animal exhibits. The park is only open to homeschoolers on the day designated (check the website for this years homeschool day). The park is only open to you for 4 hours and although the attendees are homeschoolers, it can get crowded around certain exhibits. The rides are not open, but they do have educational animal shows with the killer whales and sea lions-both of which are awesome! The animal shows are at set times and there is a designated time to eat your lunch (brown bag), so if you are there to really try to spend time learning about the animals in the exhibits, you really aren't allowed enough time in the park to do so. You may be better served to plan ahead and know what you are most interested in learning about and print a map (they will give you one there, but it helps to know where you are wanting to go). The park is large and takes a lot of time to walk the exhibits. I would recommend comfortable shoes and a stroller even if your kids are a little older. My 5 year old got very tired with all the walking up hills.
All that being said, the animals were wonderful and we loved it!

We have not been on a homeschool day, but just at regular park hours. It gets so hot in this part of Texas during the summer months, so we planned a fall trip, just before they closed for the season. All of the animal exhibits are interesting, but they best parts of the park are the animal shows. Don't leave without watching the killer whale show...amazing! The dolphins are also fun to watch, and there is one place where you can pet & feed the dolphins, but it can sometimes be too crowded to get to them. The rides add even more fun to the trip. Spring 2011 they have added a Sesame Street Bay of Play for the little ones. There is also a link on their webpage for kids to "stay and play free," with participating hotels. Check it out. We plan to go back again this year!
