Facility:Rock County Courthouse and Veterans Memorial
Description:In July 2009 the old Rock County Jail and Sheriff's Residence officially opened following a $4 million renovation as a place of community, history, and art. Two floors feature the award-winning photographs of National Geographic nature photographer and Luverne native, Jim Brandenburg. The Herreid Military Museum, located on the third floor, portrays the stories of Rock County veterans and their service in WWI and WWII. On the fourth floor, the Heritage Gallery tells the story of the families who served on the Home Front during WWII. Their stories provide pivotal tales of the sacrifice of men, women and children who were left home when their sons, daughters, fathers, and mothers went off to war.
