I love Reynolda Gardens and Museum! I grew up playing in the gardens and visited the museum frequently. Now living out of town, I take my children back as much as possible. This trip offers:
Reynolda Gardens- an educational greenhouse with demonstrations/classes for children through adults

wildflower/plants identification & running/walking trail through the woods

formal gardens with fountains, arbors, shrub maze and a lot of room to run and play

rose garden with many different varieties

vegetable garden year round to visit with many heirloom veggies and their uses. Also informational tours.

large open grassy area to play frisbee, picnic, and more

quaint little shops in the village that include an old soda shop where you can still get a vanilla coke!

runs into campus of Wake Forest University. Occasionally, WFU offers free educational programs as well.

Reynolda Gardens is admission free always!

Reynolda Museum- offers permanent exhibits of American Art and rotating exhibits as well. Self guided & guided tours available. Usually admission charge, but sometimes they run educational specials. They do offer curriculum for educators. Check website for details.

I love the gardens, but prefer going across the street to SECCA, Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art instead of the Reynolda Museum. It's always FREE & they always have great exhibits! You can find educational materials about their exhibits on their website! They also offer classes from time to time as well.

For a fun filled, educational family day-- check Reynolda Gardens website for details if you are interested in greenhouse classes or just go to play & maybe identify some plants on the trails. Then head over to SECCA for a day of thought provoking art.

My daughter and I love Reynolda House. The history of the Reynolds and the house is very interesting. The staff is amazing and very knowledgeable. They also offer different programs throughout the year for kids and adults.
