Facility: | Parker Hickman Homestead |
Description: | This 1880s log cabin preserved at Erbie on the Buffalo River is a fantastic way to explore how pioneer families lived when they first moved into the Ozarks. Linda (the historian stationed at Pruitt) makes a fantastic tour guide if you can arrange for her to give a tour or meet one of the scheduled ones. Outbuildings like barns, a smokehouse, and an outhouse still stand, helping students imagine what life was like long (and not so long ago). The cabin was inhabited up until the 1960s! For tours, contact Linda Bishop at the Buffalo River National Park- Pruitt Station (870) 446-5373. |
