Description:An El Paso County Park, the Paint Mines Interpretive Park, located in Colorado's eastern prairie, is a rare, geologically fragile, and ecologically rich landscape of labyrinthine gulches and monoliths, perennial wetlands, and native grass meadows. The park contains unique geological, archeological, historical, and ecological resources that are all interrelated, thereby retaining significant educational, scientific, and interpretive value.

Wow- this is beautiful! It's a bit of a drive, but well worth it. We bring sack lunches and blankets and have a picnic before setting off to explore. The rock formations (hoodoos) are UNREAL looking- just amazing.
Great picture opportunities. Perfect field trip to follow up a geology lesson.
If you want to partner this with another trip in the area, I recommend you see the Serenity Wildlife Big Cat sanctuary, then head to the Paint Mines afterward.
