Facility:Old Montana Prison and Auto Museum
Description:Old Montana Prison and Auto Museum is six city blocks on 9 acres filled with history. The history tour will take you through the OLD MONTANA PRISON MUSEUM on a self-guided tour of what life was like during the 100 plus years that the prison was in operation. Attached to that is the MONTANA AUTO MUSEUM. Over 160 cars from the 1880s through the muscle cars of of the 1970s. Then you travel across the street and travel back to your youth at YESTERDAY S PLAYTHINGS, a doll, toy and railroad exhibit. Further on your travels will take you back in time to FRONTIER MONTANA, which holds a view of life in the old west, the largest collection of black powder riffles and cowboy memorabilia north of Cody Wyoming. Frontier Montana also is the home of the World War II Exhibit and the Yellowstone Photographer Exhibit. Around the corner takes you to Cottonwood City filled with a schoolhouse, active blacksmith shop, post office and other historic buildings. Across the yard is our POWELL COUNTY MUSEUM, home of local history, from days gone by in the local area.
