The museum offers so much for the kids. The tour of the museum was informative. There was a classroom activity where the kids got to have close contact with several animals. After the tour, some of us stayed behind to explore the museum further and play on the playground, make noise with the sound station and play in the water area.

This is an all day field trip. Bring a picnic lunch. We went with a group that was K though 2nd grade. Had a great time.

This museum is a terrific resource for us here in North Carolina. We've attended a wide variety of classes, and they're all spectacular. The museum has areas for the youngest of kids and is even enjoyable for adults without their kids. This is worth more than just one trip. The main building will take a full day to explore, but there are satellite buildings which are at least a full day. Be sure to visit the website and check out what the current exhibits are. Also be sure to plan extra time for the playground. It is truly unique.

This is a local favorite for us. We make a day of it. The kids never get tired of it! I try to go 1-2 times a year, rotating when they change special exhibits and such.

My kids really enjoy the newer "Contraptions" room. They could spend all day in there if I let them!

The exhibits aren't huge- but they are very interesting and seem to always include something we are studying- Geology, Weather, Local animals, space, dinosaurs (love the new outdoor trail and fossil dig!!), and more. They always enjoy the Butterfly house. Be sure to check the museum website for the times of the butterfly release. THe kids are usually allowed to help release the new butterflies into the habitat. A big hit with them for sure!
