This park includes at least three different sites: Jockey Hollow just south of Morristown, Washington's Headquarters in town, and Fort Nonsense over looking Morristown. Our favorite is Jockey Hollow where the colonial army wintered in 1779-80 in worse conditions than at Valley Forge. This site includes an original colonial farm house that frequently has a fascinating living history demonstrations inside and an extrordinary colonial garden outside. On site is a visitor's center with an interesting film (another longer film is available at Washington's headquarters), a replica of a soldier hut and interesting giftshop. Here kids can dress like people of the time and solve hands-on puzzles. You may want to hike to the outside hut replicas through the beautiful trail system of the park. It's great in summer (There have been deer ticks though, so avoid the tall grasses and wear bug repellant!) and it's interesting in the winter to see the land as Washington's troops would have seen it. No food is available on site but you can bring a picnic.
