 | Susan, Co-op Member | Best for:
1) Fine Arts/Art Appreciation: developing an eye for color, shape, line, texture, and more
2) History and Art History: learning about history through art and the history of art
3) Science and technology: learning how art is made, materials used
4) Language arts: providing inspiration for essays
5) Geography: learning about countries, cultures as represented through art
Peak age of enjoyment: 11-100+ y.o.
Pros: free, surprisingly rich ancient cultures art collection, special exhibits, free parking, lovely location, building is of great architectural interest
Cons: not well suited for younger children
Cautions: adult supervision and commentary mandatory, if possible adults should preview art and especially special exhibitions |

 | Kathleen Dougherty, Co-op Member | This is one of my favorite spots for field trips. Not only do they have a great selection of exhibits but it is free. The surrounding area is beautiful and the adjacent sculpture garden is ideal for picnics. Rothko chapel is within walking distance for a dual field trip experience. |
