Facility:Honeymoon Island State Park
Description:Honeymoon Island State Park is an excellent field trip destination for nature study. It is located in the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico just across the causeway in Dunedin, Florida. Park amenities include: a nature center with an elevated observation deck and interpretive exhibit kiosks, a 2-mile nature trail, 4 miles of shoreline (including some of the best beaches in Florida), picnic pavilions, a playground, a concession stand, and three bathhouses on the beach.

Visitors to the park can arrange for a ranger-led tour or shelling program, or they can choose to explore the park on their own. Students will have ample opportunity to observe and study a variety of animal habitats and life on the island. The shoreline varies from rocky terrain to soft-as-silk sand, and students will find a large variety of birds, land animals, and marine life during a walk along the shore; canoe and kayak rentals allow for further exploration along the shoreline, if desired.
