Facility:Hager House Museum
Description:This historic homestead belonging to John Hager, founder of Hagertown, has been completely refurbished with authentic furnishings to simulate life in 1776 period. On June 5, 1739, Hager purchased 200 acres for 44 pounds. With the location carefully chosen over cool spring water, construction of the now 3 1/2 story home began. In 1740 Hager married German neighbor, Elizabeth Kershner and presented her with the new house. Stepping into the Hager House is like taking a walk through the past. And visitors will be delighted with the Elizabeth Kershner Hager Herbal Gardens which surrounds the house on all sides.

Throughout the year, a variety of special events focusing on aspects of eighteenth and nineteenth century life are offered such as Colonial Family Fun Day; Civil War Encampment; Antebellum Hagerstown; Fall Family Days; and German Christmas. Most are free.
