I have visited the Imaginarium which is a fun, hands on place to go. They have changing exhibits which makes it a good place to go back to again and again.

I have also visited the Grout museum which is not as exciting but is very informative of things pertaining to the area and IA in general.

One place not listed is the Sullivan Brothers Iowa Veterans Museum. It is a fabulous place. It has some interactive displays, hands on activites, and you are even able to look up relatives from IA who have served in the past. I would highly recommend this museum.

We went to the Imaginarium and 5 Sullivan Brothers museum with our assistance program. They did a group presentation about combustion that the kids really enjoyed then we had time to explore the hands on exhibits. My boys really enjoyed seeing gears work and different cause and effect demonstrations. We ate a sack lunch then headed to the Iowa veterans museum. There we were led around by a gal named Becca. They have key tags located around the museum that tells a story of what it may have been like for someone living during that time. We did a scavenger hunt and it really brought the history of the wars we've been in to life.
