|Completely and Totally AMAZING!!! |
This is by far one of the best all around art museum trips the girls and I have had (and we have been to some big ones).
What's great about FIGGI is that it is surprisingly complete with a small installation from each of the many periods (Ancient Art not withstanding).
We love the fact that we could easily make our way through the museum without feeling completely strung out or exhausted. The elevator is huge and in our opinion a work of art in itself. The girls were absolutely in aw of its size and functionality.
For the hands student;
On the second floor is an interactive installation where students may view art and then voice a response to the art by writing poetry or thoughts in the notebooks which are hanging next to each piece.
Also on the second floor are free open art mixed media studios for children - adults and for that toddler who just can't stop touching things? HA! A wind chime made of steel reeds that will resonate throughout the building!
The museum staff is incredibly nice, we asked for a home school discount, but there was none available (the total cost for 2 adults and 1 child to enter was 9.00).
Just in case you ARE tired after visiting all three floors...Starbucks is for purchase at a self-serve kiosk for 1.00 a cup (you can get cocoa too, but be careful it is Really hot).
Fantastic! Fantastic! Fantastic!
