This field trip was educational for me as well as for my daughter. We learned how this actual desert came to be formed. There were pictures that allowed us to see what the area looked like before it became a desert. It was fun walking the short trail through the desert and allowing our daughter to search for "jewels". If you don't want to walk, they offer a tram for an extra fee with a guide who describes the history of the desert. If you're in the area, it's worth a peek.
