This zoo is quite nice, but it is smaller than other zoos we have visited in other states. It's very clean and they have a great bird show where the birds fly right over your head. We try to go at least once a year. It is open all year around, though we've only been in the summer.

One of my childrens favorite places to visit regularly. We try to go at slow times so that trainers and volunteers have platny of time to answer questions. The zoo is highly active in breeding and species preservation projects so there are often babies to be seen, which the zoo provides introduction signs for. Several of the species housed here can only be seen in one or two other US zoos so we feel quite honored and spoiled to see them regularly. Do be aware that there are some evolution teaching signs, particulary near the monkey and ape area, so be prepared to address the issue with inquisitive children. However, when we've scheduled group trips or classes and pointed out that we'd like no evolutionary teaching the zoo has been happy to accomodate us.

We love the Denver Zoo. We have been members for 2 years, and try to avoid the summer crowds and heat. But, we try to visit every other month if we can and even after 2 years, when you think you have seen it all, an animal surprises you, or you see an animal you have never seen before. Every trip comes back with something new for us. We love the Tropical Odyssey building and the Capybura's are a favorite. And the bats are pretty fascinating too. We have seen an elephant get a shower from a zookeeper, then roll right in the dirt. We have been to Boo at the Zoo for day time costumed trick or treating which was a good haul and a fun place to spend the day eating candy. We enjoy looking for baby animals in the spring and watching them grow as we grow. Hate the parking garage - smallish cars only. Avoid weekends if you can. Bring lunch and a blanket for eating with the squirrels, geese or peacocks. Concessions are mediocre food with a high price. If you forget something, going back the the car is almost better than the gift shop. See you at the Zoo!

We go here regularly. Everytime we study anything that fits with the zoo. It is a medium sized zoo that can be done in about 4 hours. There is a good , educational elephant show. This zoo is easy to navigate and walk.
