The shape of this building is amazing. It is filled with a variety of things you wouldn't even consider art until you paid more attention to it. Because of the building design in the newer section the building gives you the impression you're walking on the ceiling or no longer walking straight.

They have wonderful tours for public and homeschoolers that gets them thinking about just what art is and it is close enough to the state capital that you can walk over and check it out as well.

This is the most hands on art museum I've ever been to! There are areas for littles to play and their bigger siblings to learn all over the museum along with scattered places where you can eat a snack or lunch. There are art backpacks and tubes you can check out some days as well as hands on create and take stations. My 2 year old son is even entertained.

This is am amazing museum for all ages of kids, as well as adults. It's the first museum where we got a membership, because we enjoy it so much.

On the main floor, there is a space that changes every few months with a variety of activities usually related to a major exhibit at the museum. Some activities that stand out in my memory were stop motion video, fashion designing, wire working, drawing and painting, dance, and paper arts. There are large play areas designed specifically for younger kids with an eye toward art. In the summer and on weekends, they have backpacks kids can borrow with a map to and activities related to an area of the museum. There are often hands-on art projects throughout the museum that are fun for adults and kids.

We've been many times, and still haven't seen all of it because we always find new things to do.
