 | KCM, Co-op Member | This small museum is one of our choices for a rainy afternoon. It is not large and one can easily see the entire museum in a few hours. The traveling exhibits room is usually the most fun and has the most for kids to see and do. The Discovery room is also lots of fun - especially for the younger crowd. The rest of the museum is well-done, but once you've been there a few times you've seen it all. The museum also has an outdoor section with a butterfly garden and nature trail. You can bring a lunch and eat indoors (they have a small room) or, weather permitting, enjoy the outdoor areas.
They often offer reduced entry during the week and I highly recommend taking advantage of this. If you have a membership to a science museum in other locations, chances are that you can enter free (via the ASTC). The museum is very homeschool-friendly and even offers classes and programs specifically for homeschoolers. This is not a five-star museum, but it is a good choice for an easy and quick local trip. |
