My nine-year-old son and I enjoyed the hands-on activities, including climbing inside a tipi, grinding real corn kernels, and seeing an actual squatters cabin and threshing machine. An age appropriate scavenger hunt helps kids go beyond the surface. Buildings on site include an 1880s church, school, home, and depot. If you call ahead you can arrange a tour. The staff are very helpful and accommodating.
