Facility: | Central Square Station Museum |
Description: | The Central Square Museum was once jointly operated as a depot for the New York, Ontario and Western and New York Central railroads. They are both indoor and outdoor exhibits. In the late 1800s and early 1900s, the Central Square Station was the principal communication and transportation center for the village. The Central New York Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society has undertaken the arduous task of restoring the depot to its original appearance inside and out. The finished project will present what the rail age gave to the community and will serve as a rail museum, library and public meeting rooms. This Organization provides tours for education on transportation by railroad and its' impact on Central New York. They will also provide tours by appointment. |
