Description:At an elevation of 755 feet, Cedar Ridge Preserve (formerly the Dallas Nature Center) is a slice of the hill country just 20 minutes from downtown Dallas. Cedar Ridge Preserve is a natural habitat of 600 acres featuring about 9 miles of trails; native trees, grasses, wildflowers; butterfly gardens; limited picnic areas; wild mammals, birds, insects and reptiles.

This is a fun hiking and learning spot. We always try to make it by for wildflower season and hunt for peeks and birds nests. More nature oriented kids can match animal or plant species to a local guidebook. There is a small pamphlet to help identify some of the native plant species you can download from the website linked above.
