|Description:||A place where the old West is still alive! Artist Charles M. Russell captured the landscapes, the spirit, and the culture of the West during the late 1800s and early 1900s. His artwork is part entertainment, part history lesson. You are encouraged to explore and discover for yourself the life and times of C.M. Russell, and the legacy of art he left behind.
The Russell Museum is also proud to house Russellís West Discovery Gallery! This gallery is different from all the other galleries in the Museum because itís a place where you can TOUCH things, PLAY, and IMAGINE that youíre a different person in a different place and time! Itís an interactive gallery designed especially for families and children (of all ages!) to explore together through recreated environments, to role-play with period props, to enjoy an art activity area, and use a special printed Family Guide. This gallery is a place to discover the West that Charlie Russell loved. Dress-up and imagine you are living in the past. You can visit a trading post, set up an Indian encampment, or cook dinner for a hungry bunch of cowboys! Think about how these things may be different from what you do everyday. Youíll find more information about the different areas when you get here and begin your own discovery!
