Facility:Buffalo Bill Museum & Grave
Description:The Colorado location of Buffalo Bill's grave site. (There is also a claim in Cody, WY). Also on site is a museum full of Buffalo Bill and Wild West memorabilia and pictures. A traveling collection changes but is usually interesting. Keep and eye out for the birthday celebration when fans come dressed as all manner of Wild West characters who love to share their legends and Indian dancers demonstrate the heritage Buffalo Bill shared with the world and desired to preserve. Nearby is a herd of buffalo.

This was a fun, informative field trip. The museum has all sorts of memorabelia to enhance any study of the Wild West or Buffalo Bill or even American Indians during their movement to reservations. The costumes fascinated my daughters, as did coins actually shot by Buffalo Bill. Part of the exhibit rotates annually, but the Buffalo Bill portion is owned by the museum/ family.

The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is the size. You can definitely make a 1/2 day of it if you study all of the exhibits - longer if it's one of the celebration days - but if you have to drive a while to get here plan to see the buffalo herd or maybe catch one other site in the area in order to make a full day.
