A nice neighborhood art museum, much less overwhelming than the major art museum in Seattle. We have seen some great exhibits here, especially of folk art and contemporary artists. First Fridays of the month are free, and there are free crafts for kids during the week of the Bellevue Arts Fair in late July.

It's hard to give this a specific star rating, because most of the space is given over to traveling exhibits, so what you see will change. Among the favorites my kids have enjoyed include weaving, quilting, paper sculpture, moving sculptures, and glass works.

Check the website before you go, or ask at the desk as you arrive to see if all current exhibits are family-friendly. (For example, one exhibit related to art by refugees from the Vietnam War included violent scenes not appropriate for young children.)

Since it's in the heart of downtown Bellevue, there are plenty of restaurant options. Bellevue Downtown Park makes a good place to run around after being on quiet "museum behavior" as well.
