Facility:Atlanta Cyclorama & Civil War Museum
Description:Nowhere can the true drama of the Civil War battle of Atlanta be more appreciated than at the Cyclorama. The thrilling Cyclorama allows visitors to step back to July 22, 1864 and experience the Battle of Atlanta. The heroism of soldiers fighting bravely for causes they believed in is brilliantly portrayed as the painting, foreground figures, music and narrative combine to astonish the visitor.

Home of the world's largest painting, "The Battle of Atlanta" and home of the historic Civil War locomotive, "TEXAS" (hero of the "Great Train Race"). Through spectacular music, art and sound effects, history comes alive as you step back to July 22, 1864 and become part of the battle.

The cyclorama lets you go back in time and it's almost like you are at the actual battle at the time it was happening. If you are studying the battle of Atlanta for history this is a good way to get kids interested.

This is a wonderful field trip location. It truly brings the historical period and events of the civil war to life with miniature replicas of the state of GA and Sherman's march to the sea. It was well done, kept the attention of the students, and gave them a real life perspective of the day. We will visit again when they are older and we are studying the events again in history. I would reccomend this to ages 9 though adult.

This attraction has moved and is now at the Atlanta History Center. The zoo will be expanding to fill the space that the Cyclorama once took.
