Facility:Arabia Steamboat Museum
Description:This is a family run museum and it has the largest single collection of pre-Civil War items from one find. The families found a steamboat from the Missouri River that sank in the 1850's and they have learned to preserve the items themselves. You will be impressed with the presentation and the passion these families have put into this location.

We really enjoyed this. I have two daughters 10 and 13. They both loved seeing all the artifacts. My husband and I both enjoyed it also.

I knew the history of the museum was that a few families excavated the site of the sinking of this boat. I had no idea the quality and the vast quantity of the materials they found.

One of the men who worked on the excavation and preservation came and spoke with our kids. There was plenty to see and learn, and it was all presented in a very accessible way.

It's location could not be better either as there is plenty to do and see in the immediate area. I absolutely recommend it.
