My family and I live in Colorado, but I still love to visit the aquarium when we are back in Eastern Nebraska. I visited the Aksarben Aquarium as a child, learned to canoe on the ponds at 4-H camp, and now see the facilities through the eyes of a science teacher, then a home educating mom.

When in the facilities, ask for the scavenger hunt pages and talk to the park rangers - they love to teach and you'll gain even more. Be sure to go for a hike and enjoy a picnic. The hatcheries aren't active as they were when I was a child, but I still love it. If you're traveling through and not from the area, it is humid (near the river) and you might want bug repellant when hiking. After living in CO, the humidity actually feels great! (Never thought I'd say that).

Last time we visited, we did so with three generations and everyone enjoyed. I hope you'll visit!
