Homeschool classes in elementary and middle school levels:
The classes are well planned and paced, making good use of the exhibits and including some hands-on activities. Those leading the groups are knowledgeable and work well with the ages they lead. Overall, this is a good introduction to many aspects of art including various media. Classes also have included an occasional visit to the Nasher Museum in Durham. These classes were coordinated with Chapel Hill Homeschoolers. We will return if possible.

The Ackland is also within walking distance of the Morehead Planetarium and the small, local "Kidzu" museum on Franklin Street.

My only caution is that some temporary exhibits (during the yearly student shows, for example) may include material inappropriate for children. The one time this happened during our classes, that material was *not* included in the class activities and was behind a temporary wall from the rest of that gallery.
