When teaching a subject that is not innately appealing, such as grammar, we find it useful to have many tools in the arsenal. Grammarlogues is a useful addition. It provides direct, clear instruction through the software component and assessment through the online component. For kids raised on various "grammar stories" (the fun non-fiction type that teach parts of speech or simple grammar concepts) and grammar songs/videos, this is a logical next step. It picks up where these fun based approaches leave off. My 10 year-old uses the 6th grad...(more)

Grammarlogues changed the way my children viewed the subject, despite being a very simple program to administer and to take as a student. It is exceedingly accurate and my children loved correcting all the tricky questions to get a perfect score.

I am teaching children 5th grade and up, and I like that grammarlogues can be used for all the grade levels. The kids work at their own pace, and I feel secure that I am not forgetting to teach them a concept. The program keeps track of what tests they've taken, and what grades they've earned. This has helped me so much.

While we have had MANY positive experiences with HBC, this product unfortunately did not work for us. The separate online component, and software component seemed antiquated when measured against most of today's educational technology.

From pedagogic standpoint we felt that this product could have done far more to encourage understanding of grammar by providing concrete feedback after each question, as opposed to just providing the "correct" answer & a more engaging user interface. Unfortunately the ONLY engaging part of this program was ...(more)

At first I thought this product was not easy to use. I thought I had to be missing something. I spent two hours logging in and out between the teacher and student accounts searching for any sort of instruction manual, link, or anything else that would explain what didn't seem to be there. "This can't be ALL?!" But unfortunately, it appears that IS all there is to it. This is an extremely disappointing waste of money. And I'm very tight on funds.

The "teaching" slides don't teach anything! There are just a few example sentences.

The s...(more)

Grammarlogues is a great way to teach grammar. Not only is it not the usual repetitive and boring subject matter, but it is broken down into nice little manageable chunks. I love the way it is self-directed and has a feature that sends me an e-mail each time my son completes an assignment. That way I can focus on my work and know that his work is getting done.

I'm sorry, but I wouldn't recommend Grammarlogues. I purchased it hoping it would be a stand-alone grammar program. It wasn't. As I recall (we stopped using this program a month into the school year) the practice problems were often too difficult, it was hard to figure out your mistakes, the explanation (lessons) were not sufficient... The whole program, even the way you navigated through it, was cumbersome and frustrating.

We love this program. I am using it with my ninth grader, but started at the beginning just to be sure we have all the foundation in place. We use it a little differently. I don't consider an assignment complete until it is at least an 80%. He does it over as many times as it takes to reach that goal and usually will surpass it until he gets 100%. It is an add-on and I don't put a lot of weight on it but it is a tool to help improve in his writing for AP Literature. Very pleased with the ease of use, the email notifications and reports to file ...(more)

I purchased Grammarlogues but have not been able to install it. When I emailed for help they give me instructions that don't work. They will not talk to you on the phone. So it's just been a waste of money so far. They said that there was someone to call with grammar questions but there is no phone number that I can see. Save your money.

A very good program. My 11 y.o just loved it!
