What type of subscription am I purchasing through this Group Buy?

You are purchasing the Homeschoolers Subscription, which normally sells for $256. Through this program, you can obtain this subscription for as little as $129. This is the basic unitedstreaming subscription with access to 40,000 video clips from 4,000 educational videos, and MORE! You are not getting what is called the unitedstreaming plus subscription. The plus subscription has more content, but also costs much more. For licensing reasons, the plus subscription is available to schools only. The Co-op is lobbying Discovery Education to make the plus subscription available to homeschoolers.

Does the Homeschooler Subscription give me access to the same material as the 30-day free trial?

No. The 30-day free trial subscription gives you access to all the titles in the unitedstreaming plus subscription. Therefore, you should not base your decision to purchase on the 30-day trial subscription. Check out the complete list of titles you'll have access to. There are alot.

Is there a less expensive way to get unitedstreaming™?

Through the Co-op you are getting the Homeschooler Subscription. However, groups can purchase what is called a Network Manager Subscription. With a Network Manager Subscription, the group (typically a school) sets up your own local server to store only those videos that your group requests, rather than all unitedstreaming™ content. Also, with minimal management, installed software schedules downloads of selected unitedstreaming™ content to the local server during off-peak Internet hours.

What is the difference between Cosmeo and unitedstreaming™?

Cosmeo and unitedstreaming™ are very similar in that they do offer video segments and images for presentations or reports. Cosmeo is designed as a homework helper for students. unitedstreaming™ is not a homework helper, but rather digital educational programming. unitedstreaming™ is intended for both teachers and students. Teachers can use unitedstreaming™ to plan and supplement their classes. Cosmeo's library only consists of elementary titles, which also includes 30,000 video segments, whereas unitedstreaming™ consists of elementary and post secondary titles, including 50,000 video segments, lesson plans, student activities, quizzes and more.

Can I download unitedstreaming digital content to my computer?

In order to answer this, we need to explain the difference between downloading and streaming. Downloaded files are saved on your computer's hard disk, and available to you for use with other applications, such as editing programs. Streamed files are NOT saved on your computer. They are available for viewing on your computer, but they cannot be saved or used with other applications.

Your Homeschooler Subscription gives you the ability to download graphic images and audio clips, which you can then use in other applications such as Microsoft Word or PowerPoint. It does not give you the ability to download video clips. You can view video clips (via what is called streaming), but you cannot save the video files to your computer.

Do I need a high-speed internet connection for this product?

Yes, Discovery Education® recommends a high-speed connection to take full advantage of a subscription.

Does the unitedstreaming™ content contain Evolution material?

Evolution is described in several videos and supplemental information.

Do I need one license per child?

No. Your subscription is good for your entire family. You will have more information in how to manage your account once your annual license is activated.

What are the grade levels for the programs?

There is lots of great content and digital resources for grades K-12.

What is my login and password?

You will specify your own login and password when you go online to purchase the subscription using the Coupon Code we provide.

Am I allowed to share the discount COUPON CODE that the Co-op provides me?

No, absolutely not. The coupon code is for Co-op members that participate in the Group Buy ONLY. Discovery Education will be well aware of folks that use the coupon code without participating in the Group Buy. They will be able to cross-reference the list of folks redeeming their coupon code with those that signed up for the access to the coupon code via the Co-op's Group Buy. If Discovery Education® finds abuse, the Co-op will NOT be in a position to provide this service again. Bottom line - if you share your discount coupon code with others, you will be putting yourself & your fellow Co-op members at risk of NOT being able to have this special offer repeated. PLEASE RESPECT YOUR FELLOW CO-OP MEMBERS - DO NOT SHARE YOUR LOGIN & PASSWORD INFORMATION!

Why does the Group Buy order form page ask for my billing information? Is there a chance that I am going to be charged TWICE for this product?

NO, you will NOT be charged twice. The Co-op Group Buy order form page will take your billing information for the $10 processing fee ONLY. The Co-op will NOT be applying the unitedstreaming™ product charge to your card. You will not be charged for the unitedstreaming™ product until YOU redeem the discount coupon code at the unitedstreaming™ website Once you activate your coupon code and you need additional assistance with your unitedstreaming subscription, please contact unitedstreaming's Customer Service Department at 1-800-323-9084.

***ATTENTION*** residents of GA & AL:

It has come to our attention that Georgia and Alabama are considered "Free States" for the unitedstreaming™ Homeschool subscription. This means that if you are a homeschool parent in any of the these states and you want to purchase unitedstreaming™, your local PBS station has already paid for the subscription. Contact your local PBS station for details. Alternatively, you may join our Group Buy, but you will be charged our non-refundable $10 transaction fee and pay the same price as other members, regardless of your state.

Why isn't unitedstreaming™ available to members outside the U.S.?

unitedstreaming is available to Canadians exclusively though Waynor Media Communications (http://www.marlineducation.com/Waynor/Home.htm). We are investigating whether it is available in other countries besides the U.S.
