What do I do if my question is not answered on this page? You can submit your question at the Contact Us page. We will answer your question and update this page as well.
What is the PLATO Learning - KYVC Comprehensive package? You are purchasing a student access to the comprehensive PLATO program with multiple subjects & courses. Your access is 24 HOURS A DAY, 7 days a week. You will have access for the time specified when you purchased.
What are the computer system requirements for this program? Please click here to review SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS HERE. PLATO Learning has also developed a new tool that can check your computer for compatibility. Please visit to assess your system's compatibility with the PLATO platform.
Is this system Mac compatible? The Co-op was told it was Mac compatible except for older Macs. Members will need Mac OS 10.4.10 or higher. Please see the above link for system and plug-in requirements. However the PLATO support materials also say: PLATO does not support Safari 4. For Authorware to be detected, you must revert back to Safari 3.2.x. The high school biology and chemistry courses require Authorware so please be aware we cannot offer support for Mac and Authorware issues. Please consider this before making your purchase. We certainly want you to have as much information available to you in order to make an informed purchasing decision.
Do most of the titles have interactive videos and audio components? There are not many, except the science, that have the interactive videos. Plato does offer audio, but not much in video. Some courses are online text with offline activities while others have audio components. Please take full advantage of the 14 day period to look carefully through the titles to make sure this will be a good fit for your student.
Does the program track and record a student's progress? Yes, the system will track and record one student's progress.
| May more than one student use one subscription? Due to the tracking and record keeping features of the program, we recommend one subscription for each student. However, families are free to use their subscription as they see fit. However if more than one student is using the same subscription, the following MUST be adhered to:
1. Only ONE student at a time may be logged in at any give time. They will have to take turns.
2. Each student must be working through different courses. Two students cannot be doing the same course in one subscription. Once a test is taken, that lesson is then locked and not accessible.
Please understand this is designed for a single student. The system does not differentiate between two different students unless two separate subscriptions are purchased. If you have chosen to have more than one student use a subscription, we are unlikely to be able to provide technical support for questions dealing with multiple student use. |
Are there printable tests? No, the student takes the test online and the student progress report shows the score. If the student does not attain mastery, they can go back and redo the lesson. However if mastery is reached, that lesson is then locked and inaccessible.
Do we have access to any teacher resources? Since this is a student subscription you are purchasing, there are no teacher materials available at this time.
May my student use the discussion board? The discussion board is used as a tool to communicate between teacher and student. Since you are purchasing only a student account, there will be no response if your student posts to the discussion board.
Are these PLATO science courses the same as what we are offering in our individual PLATO group buy? The content of the individual science courses we offer separately is the same.
What if I have questions about specific content in courses? You may ask Signe at KYVC directly. She will respond to your questions as soon as she is able. CLICK HERE to ask a question NOT addressed on this FAQ page.
Should I be concerned with privacy and my Plato through KYVC subscription? No. Kentucky Virtual Campus (KYVC) offers access to Plato curriculum. KYVC attains profile dataStudent Name, Address, Phone Number, and E-mail in order to set up Student Account. Once account is created, student is assigned User Name and Password to access Plato curriculum through KYVCs Management System. KYVC is not a school; KYVC is an online learning provider. The only data KYVC keeps is the profile data. The students work in Plato remains in Plato throughout the one year subscription. At the end of the subscription, KYVC completes the account and the work in Plato vanishes. Neither Plato nor KYVC can see the work once the subscription is completed. No data is used or ever retrieved for any other purposes to protect your confidentiality.
