| Outlaw Student: Minority Scholarship |
| Financial Need |
Welcome to the Outlaw Student (formerly StraightForward Media) Minority Scholarship program! We offer four scholarships a year exclusively to college students (and soon-to-be college students) who are members of racial or ethnic minority groups. Outlaw Student is committed to creating educational opportunities for those to whom traditional opportunities have been closed in the past.
The scholarship is awarded four times annually. Our minority scholarships are $500 each, and they’re granted every three months. Unlike most scholarship programs, the checks are written directly to you instead of your school, so winners may use the money not only toward tuition, but books, living expenses, etc.
Eligibility requirements for the Minority Scholarships is wide open. Our scholarships are open to current and prospective students at community colleges, universities, technical/vocational schools, and continuing education programs.
Whatever your reason for attending school, you’ll need money to get there. That’s why we created the $500 Minority Scholarships, offered four times per year.
Our application periods are as follows :
July 1 - September 30
October 1 - December 31
January 1 - March 31
April 1 - June 30

What counts as a Minority?
Good question. For the purposes of the StraightForward Media Minority Scholarship, minority is defined as having membership in a racial or ethnic minority group historically disadvantaged within the context of the United States. The most common members of these groups are Black/African American students, Hispanic/Latino/Chicano students, Asian students and Native American/American Indian/Eskimo students.
Exceptions? We anticipate two frequent questions: 1) I am male, and men are a gender minority in the U.S. May I apply?; and 2) I am a Caucasian female. Am I considered a minority, and therefore may I apply? The answer to both these questions is no; however, the good news is, there are plenty of other scholarships you’re eligible for.
