Woodland Park Zoo

Description:

For more than 100 years, Woodland Park Zoo has been a cherished community resource and a unique urban oasis. Generations of Puget Sound families have come to the zoo to marvel at the animals and be inspired by the peaceful and beautiful surroundings.

Woodland Park Zoo encompasses 92 acres and features more than 1,090 individual animals representing nearly 300 species. The grounds are divided into what are known as bioclimatic zones, the unique habitats around the world, from tropical rain forests to the frigid climes of the Far North.

This is by far my favorite zoo to visit! I love that the animals are treated so well and are in as close to their own habitat as possible. The only downside to taht is you might not see the animals hiding away :)

You can go to the zoo many times with different children of different ages and new things all of the time. It is difficult to see the entire zoo in one shot unless you stay the entire day, EVEN THEN you will probalby miss things.

During good weather they often have shows going on where you can go and hear extra information. My children happened in on a bird exhibition/demonstration and they LOVED it!

I do not like the parking situation and remember that you can't leave the zoo the same way you came in. Other than that we love it!

A wonderful zoo that my children love to visit every year (more than that if we can).

Great for all ages. Easy to pack a lunch and stay for several hours. Go early when they open for less crowds and to catch feeding times, and more activity with the monkeys.

Parking is extra. You can get a homeschool discount if you register ahead of time (forms available on their website), even if it's just your family.
