Facility:Weir Farm National Historic Site
Description:In the summer of 1882, American Impressionist painter J. Alden Weir left New York for his modest farm among rolling hills in Branchville, Connecticut. Weir transformed his summer retreat into a creative refuge for friends and fellow artists. After Weir, Sculptor Mahonri Young and painter Sperry Andrews followed, and continued a legacy of artistic expression at Weir Farm that still inspires today.

This place is stunning! Would be a great school trip to work on art in plein air. You can easily see why the painters came here. There are hiking trails and beautiful gardens and old barns. They offer paper and pastels and pencils you can borrow. Clean bathrooms which is always a plus.
