| Facility: | USS COD Submarine Memorial |
| Description: | USS COD SS-224 World War II GATO Class Fleet Submarine is famous for performing the only international submarine-to-submarine rescue in history. The COD is maintained and operated as a memorial to the submariners who lost their lives during the 100 year history of the United States Navy Submarine Force. PLEASE NOTE: Because the COD has not been altered from her wartime configuration, visitors must enter and exit through the original hatchways and climb up and down ladders. Caution must be exercised by persons with small children, the elderly and the handicapped. |
