Facility:USDA Thad Cochran Southern Horticultural Laboratory
Description:Scientists at the USDA-ARS Laboratory in Poplarville, MS work to create varieties of plants and fruit that will thrive in the growing conditions of the Gulf Coast states. Doors officially opened May 2006 after being originally scheduled to move into their new labs and office on the exact day Hurricane Katrina came through and devastated the area.

Teaching children and adults the importance of insects with the help of a living arthropod zoo and other entomological exhibits (local school visits, environmental workshops, career days, and in-house tours).
