| The University Art Museum is Long Beach's signature cultural landmark devoted exclusively to contemporary art. Through its exhibitions, the UAM, is committed to promoting cross-cultural understanding, to introducing the work of underrepresented artists, and to interpreting art of the past and present. The museum’s collection includes the prestigious Hampton Collection of American paintings, site-specific sculpture located throughout the campus, and works of art on paper including photographs and prints by such artists as John Baldessari, Jim Dine, James Rosenquist, Robert Rauschenberg, Lorna Simpson, Julius Shulman, and Candida Hofer.
