| The State Museum of Pennsylvania |
| Located in the state capital of Harrisburg, The State Museum of Pennsylvania covers all aspects of Pennsylvania history and holds significant collections, that relate to some of America s most seminal, well-known events as well as important, historical individuals. Situated next to the State Capitol building, The State Museum is a mecca for 315,000 schoolchildren and adults who visit annually, seeking history and culture. Significantly, The State Museum has more visitors than any other museum in Pennsylvania between Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, except for the Gettysburg National Battlefield. From its outstanding Civil War exhibits, to notable artifacts representing the foundations of American industry as well as political history dating to the early republic, The State Museum is the only museum in the Commonwealth where the public can experience the full expanse of the state s heritage and its connections to the national experience. |

 | | Edy Sarnoff, Co-op Member | | This museum has something for everyone: a "Kids Connection" kid's museum section that entertains and educates students under age 7 and their parents; extensive archeological, geological, natural history, and historical exhibites that focus on Pennsylvania's past while helping us know more about those areas of study. It even has regular planetarium shows and an outstanding gift shop that seems to feature every art form being produced in PA as well as educational toys! There is a small snack room with vending machines and tables to eat a packed lunch. Also Strawberry Square's food court is about two blocks away. Other nearby attractions include: the State House, The Whitiker Center Science Museum and The State library and Forum Theater. |

 | | B. Hargett, Co-op Member | | We have taken our children to this museum many times through the years, and have always enjoyed it. We did not have to pay to get in, which was a big plus for our large family. (I think that they charge now.) My personal greatest "awe" moment was to see either a wooly mammoth or a mastodon that was found in northeastern Pennsylvania or New York. (So much for my memory!) That brings history close to home! There is a broad range of exhibits to enjoy, hands-on things to do, a giant statue of William Penn! We love their dioramas. This is a fun way to spend a day, or afternoon. |

 | | Robin Z, Co-op Member | | This is a great museum. It has PA history and science. We really like the Planetarium. Our family joined as members and found out that there is a list of other museums we can get into for free. The membership has paid for itself many times over the year. |
