| The Rock Ranch |
The Rock Ranch is a 1,250 acre working cattle ranch located in The Rock, GA and owned by Chick-fil-A founder S. Truett Cathy. Children of all ages will enjoy the "Agrication" that only a real ranch can offer.
Tours educate visitors about nature's wonders in a hands-on atmosphere that supplements classroom curriculum, working with teachers prior to their visit in order to maximize the students' experience at The Rock Ranch.
In addition to offering educational field trips for school groups, they offer seasonal activities for everyone. Call for more information on corporate picnics, reunions, conestoga camp-outs, Celebrate America and Fall Family Fun days featuring The Rock Ranch corn maze. |

 | | Jackie Penn, Co-op Member | My family and I have been to the Rock Ranch several times. It is well worth visiting. The educational field trips change during the year. Visit their web site to see what is currently active.
The pioneer trip is wonderful. You walk to different stations and listen to folks dressed up for the time period. Many of the stations are hands-on to keep the kids engaged. They also have a Wagon Train campsite you can participate in. You actually camp in a Conestoga wagon.
Pond Dipping is another great field trip. Kids are introduced to the importance of ponds, what is in a pond, and allowed to experiment with pond water and tad poles.
They do not have food available, so you must take your lunch and enjoy a picnic. They do have a huge covered pavilion and lots of nice trees to sit under, don't forget a blanket to sit on. There is also a very large jumping pillow (like a trampoline)to play on. It is free. There are great animals to see--kinda like a mini zoo. If you are lucky, you will see pea cocks walking around, watch rabbits racing, or see the goats climbing their tree house. I guess you can call it a tree house. There are benches under tress in the animal section.
For the adventurous, make sure to go on the hay ride. The guide will tell you all about the working ranch and you will have an excellent opportunity to see the beauty of the ranch.
There is a very small gift shop on the premises. And don't forget to get your Chick-fil-a coupon and coloring book before you leave. |
