| Facility: | The Lyceum, Alexandria's History Museum |
| Description: | Alexandria's History Museum collects, preserves and interprets the history and material culture of the city of Alexandria and the surrounding Northern Virginia area. Features prints, documents, photographs, ceramics, silver, furniture and Civil War memorabilia. The Greek Revival building was constructed in 1839 as the city's first cultural center. In 1974, it was restored and converted to the nation's first bicentennial center. Opened as the city history museum in 1985. Hours of Operation: Mon.-Sat. 10-5, Sun. 1-5. Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Day. |
