The House of the Seven Gables constitutes its own national historic district on The National Register of Historic places! Professional guides warmly greet you for an unforgettable historical experience. Built in 1668, this is the oldest surviving 17th century wooden mansion in New England. The House of the Seven Gables inspired author Nathaniel Hawthorne to write his novel of the same name.

This was a total thrill. I especially enjoyed when we got to go up the secret stair case. The house is very interesting and they have a gift shop and book store beside it. The grounds are beautiful as is the water. This is a must see. There is so much to do in this town. You can do it all in one day.
