 | | Sandi Patterson, Co-op Member | | This museum is geared more towards the younger children. Alot of walking. Not alot of interaction. There are classes/sessions you can go to. Though they tend to become crowded fast. Plan on having your syudents get wet in the water works section. That is probaly the biggest draw there. This makes for a quick field trip. |

 | | Christine Smith, Co-op Member | We have been members of the Boonshoft Museum for two years. They have live animals, and many hands on exhibits. They have a planetarium where you can watch educational shows, and lots of areas for kids to play - they can pretend to shop in a store, drive a car, drive a garbage truck, be a vet in an animal clinic, and many more! There are exhibits that will engage kids of all ages from baby to teenage! My kids love to go and spend the day - sometimes I have to drag them out kicking and screaming!
They also have classes for home schoolers every month. For $6 they can take a variety of courses; everything from electricity and magnetism, to being a detective in a crime lab. My children love these classes and they are well worth the investment! They have week-long summer camps that are very fun and reasonable priced. The employees are very helpful and have a real interest in teaching our children. I would highly recommend this museum if you are in the Dayton area! |

 | | Danielle Dennis, Co-op Member | | The simple review is to say this is everything a science museum should be. We loved it and even bought a membership! |

 | | Judy Atlagh, Co-op Member | Something for every age group. This museum includes a play area on the lower level for smaller children, ending in a water table that is divided into two parts so that the older children can also 'get their hands wet.' Also on the main floor is a specially lighted dance wall and an eco house. And who could forget the new hall of planets walk though.
Upstairs, you can visit the newly redone animal walk through where there is a daily meet and greet where children can usually touch a critter. And the new meerkat exhibit is well worth the visit. Also upstairs are the vet clinic, recycle center, trash mound, and pizzaria / grochery where there is lots to learn. There is also a traveling exhibit. We love the current 'mystery mansion' with lots of brain teaser puzzles for all ages, but we are really looking forward to the up-coming robots exhibit this fall.
Definitely a great hands-on place of learning. |
