| Swem Library, College of William and Mary |
| William and Mary's Swem Library has probably some of the most interesting items in its special collections area. They have an entire exhibit of a recreation of a Supreme Court office as Chief Justice Warren Burger left his papers to them. They also have some other items in display cases. Often they will have the original "secret code" Thomas Jefferson papers on display. The librarians are great and if your children are well behaved, they may agree to pull other items and show them to your children. They have other papers of founding fathers (several of them were students at William and Mary) and Illuminated manuscripts from Europe in their collections. (Check the website for a complete listing) For the best experience, call ahead and explain to the librarian what you are interested in viewing. The librarian can tell you what is on display and what other options you may have to view anything not on display. |
